A federal agency of the US Department of the Interior that was established in 1902 to provide public funds for irrigation projects in arid regions. The BR played a major role in the construction of dams, reservoirs, and irrigation systems designed to reclaim arid and semi‐arid lands in western states, especially since in the 1930s.
