A white dwarf 14.1 l.y. away in Pisces, the nearest white dwarf after the companions of Sirius and Procyon; also designated GJ35 and LHS 7. It appears of 12th magnitude and has the relatively large proper motion of 2″.99 per year. It is named after the Dutch-American astronomer Adriaan van Maanen (1884–1946), who discovered it in 1917.
