Any drug or substance that causes an increase in the diameter of blood vessels and increased blood flow. Examples include nitrates, adrenomedullin, bradykinin, atrial natriuretic peptide, isoproterenol, nifedipine, prostacyclin, and substance P. See vasodilator stimulated phosphoprotein.
