Quick Reference

A large cytoplasmic ribonucleoprotein particle that has the appearance of an octagonal dome. It is composed of three proteins: the major vault protein (MVP), the vault poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (VPARP), and the telomerase-associated protein 1, together with one or more small untranslated RNAs. MVP (lung resistance-related protein, 896 aa) is frequently overexpressed in multidrug resistant tumours and accumulates into lipid rafts during Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection.
