Quick Reference

A series of measurements designed to provide information about the variation and distribution of seismic velocities throughout a series of media, as a function of depth and horizontal distance. A number of velocity analyses along a seismic section can be displayed to produce an isovelocity plot in which all points of equal velocity are linked by contours. This reveals the velocity structure and any anomalies in the plane of the section, and provides a useful aid to geologic interpretation.
