A reflex rotation of the eyes activated by the vestibular system in response to a movement of the head, keeping the retinal image stable, also activated by stimulation of the external auditory canal with warm fluid, eliciting rotatory nystagmus towards the stimulated side, or cold fluid eliciting rotation away from the stimulated side.
