The second of the seven books of the Abhidharma Piṭaka (Skt., Abhidharma Piṭaka) of the Pāli Canon. It deals in a general way with different topics central to the Buddha's teaching by means of technical analysis, though different methods of treatment are used. The book is divided into eighteen chapters, each of which is called a vibhaṇga, or ‘division’. Each chapter has three portions: Suttantabhājaniya, Abhidhammabhājaniya, and Pañhāpucchaka, the last title literally meaning ‘list of questions’. There is a commentary to the Vibhaṇga, by the title of Sammohavinodanī, attributed to Buddhaghoṣa.
