(Skt.; Pāli, vicikicchā).

A form of neurotic doubt or uncertainty that hinders resolution and action. It denotes undue scepticism and a wavering and indecisive attitude. It is the last of the five hindrances (nīvaraṇa) and in this context relates to doubts concerning the Buddha.the Dharma.the Saṃgha.to whether certain things are good, bad, right, or wrong, and other matters. It is also the second of the ten fetters (saṃyojana), where it impedes the attainment of the stage of stream-winner (śrotāpanna), the first of the stages of the Noble Path (ārya-mārga).
