The independent national charity that helps people to cope with the effects of crime. It has a network of local branches across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Its trained volunteers offer: someone to talk to in confidence; information on police and court procedures; help in dealing with other organizations; information about compensation and insurance; links to other sources of help.

Anyone affected by crime can contact Victim Support directly for help. In some police areas details of reported crimes are passed to Victim Support who will offer their services to victims and others affected by the crime. The services are free and available to everyone, whether or not the crime has been reported and regardless of when it happened. See also witness service.
