Virtual Reality Modelling Language

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A programming language, often referred to as VRML, used to define three-dimensional virtual worlds which can be viewed using a conventional browser or a VRML browser. VRML is the three-dimensional equivalent of languages such as the Hypertext Markup Language and the Standardized General Markup Language which deal with two dimensions. A typical application for VRML would be in providing the virtual environment of a supermarket which a shopper can wander around by using a mouse to choose the direction they want to travel. VRML worlds can be viewed in a conventional browser using a VRML plug-in. Although programs can be developed in the language using a simple text editor, most users of VRML employ a VRML author.
