Aristotle's Ethics (4th century BCE) is a philosophical account of the role of virtues such as truth, integrity, honesty, and altruism in achieving a good life. These and other virtues are the basis for virtue-based ethics and form part of the foundation of public health ethics. Contrast principle-based and rule-based ethics. See also ethics.
