Castle, palace and medieval city near Esztergom on the River Danube in the county of Pest, north of Budapest, Hungary. A Roman castrum was built as a limes (boundary) fort in the first half of the 4th century ad on the summit of the steep hill known as Sibrik; remains of walls and of towers with an irregular pentagonal plan survive.
