Quick Reference

A cone-specific protein first characterized in chicken retina, but a human homologue (visinin-like 1,191 aa) is strongly expressed in granule cells of the cerebellum where it associates with membranes in a calcium-dependent manner and modulates intracellular signalling pathways of the central nervous system through adenylyl cyclase. See visinin-like proteins.
