A form of a deity, principally Viṣṇu, demonstrating the way in which he encompasses the universe. The best-known description occurs in the Bhagavadgītā (11.3ff.), after Arjuna asks to see Kṛṣṇa's supreme form. Iconographic renditions show Viṣṇu with many heads and arms.
