Excessive intake of vitamin D results in disturbance of calcium metabolism, resulting in hypercalcaemia, i.e. dangerously raised blood calcium concentrations leading to hypertension (raised blood pressure), brain damage, and kidney damage. Excessive exposure to sunlight does not lead to excessive formation of vitamin D.
