Quick Reference

The son of G. J. Vossius, he wrote scientific and artistic treatises that were widely read but of uneven merit. He inherited his father's library and expanded it, both during his grand tour in Italy and, later, as librarian of Queen Christina of Sweden (1649–55). Vossius’ library was purchased by Leiden University Library.
