Type of chamfer consisting of a series of small scoops, like bites, removed from the arrises of a timber of rectangular section, favoured in Arts-and-Crafts work. A good example is the balustrade of the Library at the Glasgow School of Art (1907–9) by C. R. Mackintosh, where the scoops are accentuated with colour.
