Russian-French designer. He created the designs for many ballets, including Petit's Le Jeune Homme et la mort (Ballets des Champs-Elysées, 1946), Dollar's The Combat (American Ballet Theatre, 1953), Lifar's Firebird (Paris Opera, 1954) and L'Amour et son destin (Grand Ballet du Marquis de Cuevas, 1957), Hanka's Moor of Venice (Vienna State Opera, 1955), and Taras's Petrushka (Berlin Opera Ballet, 1971).
