British dancer and director. She studied at the Royal Ballet School and graduated into the Royal Ballet Touring Company. In 1969 she became ballet mistress at the RB Upper School and in 1981 deputy ballet principal of the RB School. She then worked as ballet mistress and staged the classical repertory for companies all around the world, additionally becoming artistic co-ordinator of National Ballet of Canada in 1984 and co-artistic director of that company (with Valerie Wilder) between 1987 and 1989. In 1990 she became deputy artistic director of English National Ballet, and in 1994 artistic director of the Royal Academy of Dancing.
