(1851–1904), British yacht designer. G. L. Watson was one of the most innovative and influential yacht designers in the formative period of yachting. Although his career was neither as long nor as varied as that of his peer in America, Nathanael Greene Herreshoff, Watson’s imprint on the shape of the modern sailing yacht was just as firm.
