A type of ganglion cell with a slow-conducting axon found in the retinas and the lateral geniculate nuclei, not clearly classifiable as an X cell or a Y cell, projecting to cells lying in the parvocellular system of the lateral geniculate nucleus concerned with colour vision and from there to blobs in the upper layers of the primary visual cortex.
