German composer. He wrote no ballet scores but composed many polkas, waltzes, and polonaises and some of his concert music has been used for dance, including Invitation to the Dance (orch. Berlioz, chor. Fokine, in Spectre de la rose, 1911) and Konzertstück (chor. van Dyk, 1965, and K. Stowell, 1972).
