(b Durban, 16 Dec. 1947)
South African ballet dancer and director. She studied locally with Iris Manning and Arlene Speark and in 1964 joined Natal Performing Arts Council Ballet, then PACT Ballet in 1965 where she was appointed principal in 1968. A musical and dramatic dancer, she was highly acclaimed in Prokovsky's Anna Karenina (1980). In 1983 she was appointed artistic director of PACT and in 1986 she was made prima ballerina, but in 1987 injury forced her to retire from the stage. In 1994 she took over direction of PACT Ballet School, retaining direction of the company which became State Theatre Ballet in 1997. In 1996 she staged a full-length version of La Bayadère there, which has since been taken into the repertories of several companies. After the company was disbanded in 2000 she moved to Australia and in 2002 was appointed director of dance at Queensland University.
