She was influenced by the work of E. Johnston, who taught her at the Royal College of Art. However, her own distinctive visual style is reflected in the numerous commissions she undertook, the most notable of which—‘The Accession Address’ and ‘The Coronation Address’—were produced for the London County Council and presented to the young Queen Elizabeth II. She also taught calligraphy at the Edinburgh College of Art and at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London.
