Flexible, tough, and elastic cartilage consisting of a dense mass of collagen fibres in a solid matrix with cells spread thinly among the fibres. White fibrocartilage forms a thin coating on some grooves in bones through which tendons glide. It is also found between the bodies of vertebrae and in the menisci.
