Ballet in one act with choreography by Balanchine, music by Gershwin, lighting by R. Bates, and costumes by Karinska. Premiered 5 Feb. 1970 by New York City Ballet at State Theater, New York, with von Aroldingen, McBride, Marnee Morris, and d'Amboise. A suite of dances to melodies like ‘Fascinatin' Rhythm’ and ‘The Man I Love’ (all arr. H. Kay), it presents classical dance in the style of a Gershwin musical. It is in the repertory of several companies, including English National Ballet, Los Angeles Ballet, and North Carolina Dance Theatre.
