(1915–1983), Irish-American writer. He was born in Dublin, was educated in Ireland and England, worked as a reporter in London, traveled widely, and in 1943 settled in the United States, where he had a long career as a newspaper correspondent. Wibberley is known especially for the adult satirical novel The Mouse that Roared (1955) and its sequels; but he was a prolific author who wrote more than a hundred books, including fiction and nonfiction for children and young adults. For some of his works, he used the pseudonyms Leonard Holton, Patrick O'Connor, and Christopher Webb.
