(family Cupressaceae)

A genus of small to medium-sized, evergreen, cypress-like conifers with small, scale leaves arranged in pairs. The cones have only 4 scales. The timber of W. cedarbergensis (Clanwilliam cedar) is very valuable and is used for high-quality furniture. Young trees of W. nodiflora (Mlanji cedar) are used as a substitute for Christmas trees. There are 5 species, occurring in central and S. Africa.
