(or ‘Harry’) Wills held the post of sub-editor of Dickens's successful journals Household Words and All the Year Round from 1849 to 1868, in which capacity he acquired a reputation for diligence, discretion, and excellent management. In the matter of literary flair, however, he has been almost inevitably overshadowed by his famous editor.
