(?1820–1875), journalist and poet. Born in Dunfanaghy, Co. Donegal, he taught in Ballycastle, Co. Antrim, emigrated to America, then returned and wrote for newspapers in Enniskillen and Belfast. He made his name as ‘Barney Maglone’ with a series of sketches of town-hall figures, chiefly for the Belfast Morning News (1865). His Almeynack for All Ireland an' Whoever Else Wants It (1871) was in the same vein of dialect humour.
