Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

An artificial barrier to the wind, erected to provide protection to objects on the leeward side. This may be designed to act directly by reducing the force of the wind (as with barriers to protect exposed roads or rain gauges), or indirectly by altering the wind flow (as with a snow fence, which causes snow to be deposited away from the road or railway being protected).
