(1801–1865), scholar and antiquarian. Born in Cork, he was one of a group of literary men who cultivated an interest in folklore and antiquities. With J. J. Callanan and Thomas Crofton Croker he formed a group called the Anchorites. His collection of ogam stones are now kept at UCC. During 1826–30 he edited Bolster's Quarterly Magazine. His topographical interests are reflected in Historical and Descriptive Notes of the City of Cork (1839).
