Quick Reference

The vertical images of wind movements created by spacecraft using three Doppler radar. One radar points down vertically and two radar point at small angles to this. Wind profiles can also be taken on other planets. A prototype miniature Doppler lidar (detection device based on a laser) for wind profiling on Mars was under development at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in 2001.
