Winnam is the creator.

The Kurumba water spirit, Domfe, comes down to earth with rain and wind and the first food-bearing seeds. The culture hero of the Grusi is the first smith, sent by the spirit of the waters.

In the beginning, Winnam (Naba Zidiwinde, Winde), the god of the sky, created four brothers and divided the earthly kingdom among them. The eldest went to a place that contained iron, and he became the first blacksmith; the second chose a place in which oxen were found, and he became the first Fulani; the third brother's place was full of bales and donkeys, and he was the first merchant; the youngest moved into a magnificent palace, and he was the first king, the leader of the earth. The elder brothers came to do the youngest homage, and from their collaboration rose the organization of the Mossi state.
