Polish mathematician and natural philosopher. At the Papal court at Viterbo, he joined a scientific circle including William of Moerbeke, to whom he dedicated his main work, the Perspectiva. Treating of both mathematical optics and the physiological and psychological aspects of vision, it is largely based on the work of the Arabic scholar Alhazen (Ihn al-Haytham).
