Quick Reference

He began gathering medieval MSS, incunabula, and the classics during his youth, eventually amassing fine collections of each. Many of his books were bound by R. Payne, and Wodhull wrote notes on the cost of his books and their binding on their endleaves. His library, dispersed at Sotheby’s 11–20 January 1886 in nearly 3,000 lots, fetched close to £12,000.
