Quick Reference

Subtitled The ‘Folk’ Magazine and published by the Folk Press Ltd., edited by Douglas Macmillan. It ran for twelve numbers, January 1926 to December 1927, and included short pieces on many aspects of language and folklore, including dialect poems and stories, song-texts, word-lists, place-names, word-puzzles, and notes and queries. Word-Lore had an amateur, home-made feel, and some of its content was of dubious authority, but it is a product of its time, and there is much valuable material to be found in its pages.
