working from home

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

Is an arrangement in which part of the work task that one is employed to undertake is completed at home, or where employees are allowed to undertake their normal work tasks from home at times of their own choosing (although usually within limits). The incidence of both working from home and homeworking is growing in the UK economy partly as a result of increased use of information and communications technology that facilitates remote access (see teleworking). Working from home is sometimes presented as a form of flexible working that can allow workers better to integrate their paid and domestic tasks.
