An expression of the zygotic proportions expected in a population experiencing a certain amount of inbreeding. For a pair of alleles A and a with frequencies p and q, respectively, the zygotic proportions are expected to be AA = p 2 + Fpq: Aa = 2 pq (1 − F): aa = q 2 + Fpq, where F is Wright's inbreeding coefficient (q.v.). The Hardy-Weinberg Law (q.v.) is a special case of Wright's equilibrium law in which F = 0.
