Quick Reference

A variant on the Schmidt camera proposed in 1935 by the American Franklin B. Wright (1891–1967). It uses an oblate spheroidal mirror and a corrector plate which has a greater corrective effect than in a conventional Schmidt camera, reducing the tube length by half. The focal surface is flat, and the instrument can also be adapted for visual use by inserting a secondary mirror.
