Spanish dancer. She grew up in Madrid and Las Palmas and trained at her parents' school. In 1993 she joined the Paris Opera Ballet, dancing Kitri in Don Quixote before moving to the Royal Ballet in 1994, where she was promoted to principal in 2001. An exceptionally expressive, intelligent dancer, she has performed leading roles across the repertory and also created roles in many ballets, including Tharp's Mr Worldly Wise; Tuckett's The Turn of the Screw, The Crucible, Proverb and The Seven Deadly Sins; Wheeldon's Electric Counterpoint; Christopher Bruce's Three Songs—Two Voices; and Kim Brandstrup's Two Footnotes to Ashton.
