Amer. composer. Worked as mus. publisher 1918. Wrote successful musical comedies from 1921, having enormous success on both sides of Atlantic with No, No, Nanette (1924), which incl. song ‘Tea for Two’. Illness forced retirement 1933. Among his other songs are ‘I want to be happy’, ‘Hallelujah’, ‘Sometimes I'm happy’, ‘Carioca’, ‘Without a Song’, and ‘More than you know’.
