Arthurian romance (c.1178) by Chrétien de Troyes, also known as Chevalier au Lion, which presents parallels with the Welsh Arthurian romance Owain. Yvain wins Laudine after killing her husband but then forgets her during a year at Arthur's court and must undertake a series of adventures to regain her. The story is retold in Ywain and Gawain, an English 14th-century romance. See Robert W. Ackerman, F. W. Locke, and C. W. Carroll, Ywain: The Knight of the Lion (New York, 1977).
