Monophysite writer. He became a lawyer at Constantinople c.492 and later was Bp. of Mitylene on the island of Lesbos. His main work was a Church history, valuable for the period 450–91. He also wrote Lives of Severus of Antioch, Peter the Iberian, and others, and works against the Neoplatonists and the Manichees.
