A leading Italian manufacturer of kitchen utensils and tableware, Serafino Zani founded the company under the Zani name in 1936. Building on craft traditions in cutlery making the firm extended its repertoire to include flatware and other tableware in 1960, subsequently establishing a reputation for elegant designs in stainless steel, a medium in which it began to specialize in the late 1970s. Amongst well‐known designers commissioned by the company have been Tapio Wirkkala, Bruno Munari (TMT ice bucket, 1954), Lino Sabattini, Enzo Mari (Smith & Smith kitchen product range, 1987), and Gaetano Pesce (the dramatic Vesuvio cafetiere, 1993).
