Quick Reference

One of Job's ‘comforters’ (Job 2: 11). He contends that Job's misfortunes must be due to wickedness. If only Job could see it all from God's point of view, he would realize that he has actually got off quite lightly. But in the prose conclusion to the book, his advice, and that of his friends, is derided by God (Job 42: 7–8). Still, Job interceded for him and for Eliphaz and Bildad (Job 42: 9).
