Hasidic master and hero of Hasidic folk-tales (d. 1800). Zusya was attracted to Hasidism in his youth, becoming a disciple of Dov Baer, the Maggid of Mezhirech, and encouraging his brother Elimelech to join him. Zusya was not noted for his learning, unlike his brother who became the famous Zaddik of Lizansk and author of the Hasidic classic, Noam Elimelekh. Zusya's fame rests on his generous disposition and his charismatic personality.
