*Analogue radio stations that broadcast using amplitude modulation, typically at frequencies between 530 and 1600 KHz, which includes medium and long wave bands. AM radio has a large range because it does not rely on the transmitter being in the line of sight of the receiver but it is prone to electrical interference. See also radio waves.
