One of the eight Brahmins called upon due to his skill in physiognomy to predict the future career of the infant Buddha. Aññāta-Koṇḍañña predicted that the child would renounce the world and become an enlightened teacher. When this happened he himself renounced the world with a group of four others and gained enlightenment (bodhi) on hearing the Anatta-lakkhaṇa Sutta preached.
