An intriguing fossil vertebrate (Cretaceous) that is usually classified as a theropod dinosaur (Theropoda) but probably would be more correctly classed as a primitive bird. It is incompletely known but many of its anatomical features are more advanced, in a bird-like sense, than those of Archaeopteryx.
